A fast clock tower run (with photos)

There was a good turn out this morning, as 12 of us set off from the Clock Tower to do what is quite a standard route for us now. We were joined by 2 of our old friends who have been out with the Bird Hills group more than with us recently (Magnus and Mark) so we probably should have know what was in store...I just hope we haven't frightened Lesley off who was only riding for the 2nd time with us...

Hilly 30 Start Sheet now available

The start sheet for Sunday's Hilly 309 can be found here.

An eventful clock tower run

Seven of us made it out on a chillier morning - autumn feels like its arrived. David D came along in his running kit to say hi before he went on to run the Maidenhead half marathon (which he did in 1 hour 43mins - well done!) and we had a chat about Gurpals 12 hour tt (196 miles - again well done!), and Dave B wanted to find a hill we had been down in the winter and do it again (but forgot to say that he wanted to go down it again....more on that later!)

Marlow Red Kite Ride - 1st Sep

As the good weather continued into September, six of us from the club (Sarah, Daniel, John, Michael, Rob and I) paid a neighbourly visit to this 100 mile event put on by the Marlow Riders.  Full credit to them as they put on a great show, very well organised with 3 good food stops complete with home made cakes.  The route started with a familiar climb through Frieth to Christmas Common (being careful to avoid those on GS Henley's TT) before descending to Watlington.  We then headed north through Thame spending much of the time on relatively flat and very quiet and pleasan

Punctures in the park....

No parties yesterday in the Great Park for the 5 fools braving the rain for the Birds Hill group ride.

With plenty of rain Saturday and Sunday morning it was decided we'd do a short, steady and less risky ride (from a slippery road/debris perspective) and headed out on the Chobham route. Myself, Mike, Colin, Matthew and Anastasia started out just as the rain started to ease. We all took turns at the front and collectively forgot about the "steady" bit pushing on as and when the road/legs allowed.

The Clothing Order has arrived

As you can see, the clothing order has arrived. I will email all of you who placed orders so you know how much to pay. We need to get the money in promptly as we will need to pay Imsport in the next couple of weeks. You can call round and pick up you order if you let me know when. I will bring the orders along to the remaining club 10's, but I will not be able to make this coming Thursday (22 Aug).

Bird Hills ride 4th August - can we take it easy please?

A  group of 10 riders found their way to the golf club for today’s charge around the Chilterns.  This included Anastasia and Lucas deciding to step up from their normal Clock Tower ride.  As a number in the group had less experienced of riding with us, we decided to take one of our classic routes via Pishill. I and a couple of the more experienced riders were mindful of our juniors, so didn’t want to ride at a pace which was too aggressive.  So how did we get on?

Circuit Racing (in a world championship)

28th July - Bird Hills ride - confusion causes crashes!!

On a sunny but slightly cooler Sunday morning 5 regulars turned up (Simon, Colin, Brett, Les along with me) and 3 new(ish) faces.  Andrew totally new to us, Simon who occasionally comes out and James from the Clock Tower group who experienced the combined ride the previous week.  With Les well warmed up from an extended ride to the golf club, he made some comment about heading out to Bourne End and up and down around High Wycombe.
