A Grand Boxing Day Morning Out!

On the best morning that we've had for a few years for our '10' the weather brought out 23 riders from a selection of our local clubs. It was good to see some riders entering into the spirit of the event and wearing fancy dress. It was a close competiition but Sue clinched it with her musical antlers and red nose.

The Riders Sign On at the Start

Fastest rider looking as fit as in the midsummer was Simon Bowler from Eton Tri with the first sub 24 minute '10' of the morning in 23:40. John Sullivan came in second to take the fastest MDCC  second claim members prize just 4 seconds behind him.

First MDCC member was club chairman Andrew Payne in 24:22 while Callum Robertson did an excellent ride to finish tieing with Rob Brockwell in 25:58 to take the fastest junior prize. This was despite Callum leaving behind some of his Christmas dinner on the way round.

Anna and Mum, Avril, at the Start

It was good to see Mark Silver from the Hounslow & Dist Whs taking part on his trike and Anna Long's Dad, Tom giving Anna a run for her money but just losing out to Anna by 26 secs as Anna finished in 29:56 to take the fastest ladies prize.

Slowest rider was awarded to David Blundell, but we overlooked new MDCC member Magnus Oestvall so we shall award him a prize as well.

It was good to see so many out helping as well and contributing to the refreshments which gave the event a warm Christmas glow all over. Thanks to among others Paul Richardson, Andrew Small, Derek and Sam Cockerton, Matt, Avril Long, Mrs Payne and anyone else I might have forgotten.

Also out was David Lambourne a member of the Club since the 50's and also Pete Weir. We were pleased to see both of them

Tea, Coffee and Mince Pies at the Finish

I'll get some more photos up later in the week. Thanks to all who rode and Happy New Year.
