It was a touch breezy for the four of us who took part in stage one of the Westerley weekend this morning, appropriately enough with more westerly direction to the wind than it looked like on the forecast. Club hard man Simon was on his second race of the weekend, and the 30 yesterday clearly took its toll and he ended up with 1:0:47, two seconds behind me. Frank was back a bit on his last outing on this course with a 1:04, but just beat Simon on Vets standard. New boy Andrew C was pleased with his time (an 8 or a 9, I think) as he gets to grips with not going for a swim before the start. MDCC alumnus Danuta took the women's prize with a 1:02

Clearly Andrew P and Peter are saving themselves for tomorrow's 10, when conditions promise to be much the same, so expect a tough time on the drag out of the turn
