Reading Velodrome Womens Omnium & Dernyfest
There are 2 great events happening at Reading Velodrome on 14th August which are looking for support.
The first is the Dernyfest which is looking for some more male entrants. This is a Derny paced event where you need a big gear, 96" or higher. There are heats and a 3 finals so everyone gets 2 rides its enough, the major final is 30km, B Final is 22km and C final is 15km. Heats are 22km. Speeds can be up to 60kph. Its great fun but its short of entries. You need a BC Licence, track bike and an ability to follow a wheel closely.
The second is the Women's Omnium. This is part of the National Series and an important part of women's racing in this country. It consists of a 500m TT, a Scratch Race, Sprinting, a 2k Pursuit, and a Points Race. Again you need a BC Licence and a track bike.

This is the first time that i know of Reading promoting these events and its disappointing that the entry is currently poor for both events. If you fancy trying these you can post an entry to Gordon Sherratt by Saturday or email it to him and pay on the day, the address is at both links.
