Timberlake Tankard '10' Thursday, July 22nd.
Les Gets A Well Deserved Win
Les Gardner after riding every Thursday evening event this year got the result he deserved last night by producing another season pb and taking the Timberlake Tankard with a handicap time of 19:57. Jon Crompton who has only been an MDCC member for a few months but with great enthusiasm improved again last night to record his first sub-24 minute ride of 23:47. He came second to Les with a h'cap time of 20:09 to take the silver medal position. We were pleased to see Jorj James come in in the bronze medal position with 20:17, 23:57 actual. I note that Jorj attributes his speed to his pointy head!
Peter was pleased to see his handicapping worked our pretty well with all riders being within one and a quarter minutes of each other.
In the scratch event Simon Greenland rode an excellent 22:48 to take the men's win while Danuta Tinn was pleased to produce a fast 23:26 to take the women's event. Mike Woods managed to break the 25 minute barrier for the first time with a terrific 24:30. A quarter of the field was taken up by women riders from different clubs. Their participation has improved the sport enormously over the last few years. It was good to see Rohan Battison [Maxgear] getting another pb and break 24 minutes for the first time with 23:55.
