Sportive Trophy 2013

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version
It was a year that saw continued growth on the Sportive scene (too much apparently in the opinion of some Surrey and Dorset residents) with perhaps the highlight being the first Ride London-Surrey 100 which gave 16,000 (including 7 from MDCC) a great day cycling 100 miles of closed roads in London and Surrey. On the club front Magnus organised a trip to do a 300km circuit of a Swedish lake whilst 6 of us did a similar distance over a 2 days circuit around London. 13 braved the cold and wet reliability ride in February, whilst 21 enjoyed a sunny trip to Box Hill and back in June. Finally 7 of us took on a 100 mile ride organised by the neighbours in Marlow during September.
Putting all the mileages together from those and other events ridden during the year gives the following results for the 2013 Sportive Trophy:
1. Heather Mackay 3,728 miles
2. David Dyer 1,526 miles
3. Sarah Davies 1,294 miles
4. Magnus Oestvall 840 miles
Congratulations to Heather for another win (although she says she is concentrating on speed not distance now, so the trophy is up for grabs next year).
